Cycle Sport Yorkshire 2019

It will be the first time that Britain has hosted the UCI Road World Championships since 1982 and Yorkshire is aiming to deliver the most inclusive, innovative and inspiring Road World Championships in the history of the UCI.

Yorkshire 2019 Para-Cycling International

For the very first time, a Para-cycling race will take place alongside the UCI Road World Championships. The race itself will be Yorkshire 2019 Para-Cycling International and will welcome entries from every Paralympic road racing classification. The riders will start from four different locations along the same route and all finish in Harrogate.

The race will comprise four groups of disabled riders (blind and visually impaired, people with cerebral palsy, locomotor disabilities and handcyclists) and a total of 13 classifications for men and women. Riders are placed in the appropriate classification in the light of their functional capacity.

Those riders racing the longest distance will start in Beverley and the shorter courses will begin along one continuous route in Tadcaster, Wetherby and Harrogate.

Yorkshire 2019 UCI Road World Championships

In September 2019 the world’s best cyclists will come to Yorkshire for the UCI Road World Championships, the pinnacle event in the international road cycling calendar. The Championships will include a range of men’s and women’s races, across age groups from junior to elite, starting in different towns and cities throughout Yorkshire and each finishing in the main competition town of Harrogate.

It will be the first time that Britain has hosted the UCI Road World Championships since 1982 and Yorkshire is aiming to deliver the most inclusive, innovative and inspiring Road World Championships in the history of the UCI.

The Championships will be delivered thanks to a partnership between the UK Government, UK Sport, British Cycling and Welcome to Yorkshire. The UK Government and UK Sport have allocated £15 million to deliver a legacy that will develop entry-level cycling facilities across England and transform the sporting fabric of the country.
